Many brides immediately think spring when planning a wedding, but in New England, there are many great reasons to consider a winter wedding.
Cost
A winter wedding is usually cheaper. You can often get great deals on all kinds of services from wedding cakes to photography.
Availability
This is a big one. If you have a winter wedding, the chances are you’ll have a wider variety of options for just about everything. That fabulous venue you want? The perfect caterer? A trendy photographer? Everyone has more availability in the winter, simply because there are less weddings taking place.
Uniqueness
A winter wedding gives you the option to do things a little differently. You can have more unusual food and drink options, like hearty soups, spiced apple cider, or fresh eggnog. You can choose venues that make use of warm, inviting fires, and set the mood for a cozy and completely romantic wedding.
If log cabins, mistletoe, warm lighting, and hot chocolate sound perfect, a winter wedding could be for you.
Elegance
Winter weddings have elegance built right in. With the silvers and whites of snow, your setting gets a boost of beauty. A snowflake theme is a beautiful and versatile way to make use of the season. Use snowflake imagery in your invitations, your centerpieces, your cake.. anywhere you want!
But don’t think you’re limited to a snowflake theme if you have a winter wedding. Anything associated with the season will work well. Think of pine trees and pine cones, red berries, Christmas ornaments, sledding, snowmen.. anything you like!
Of course, we know that snow can throw a wrench into plans if it happens unexpectedly, but with a little planning, there’s no reason not to host a fabulous winter wedding. If you plan a winter wedding, be sure to keep an eye on the weather as it gets closer, and be prepared for emergencies by having rooms for guests to stay in if the weather gets really bad.
